FIT Aviation LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Florida Institute of Technology, with its primary mission being the aviation education of students of the College of Aeronautics. To that end, FITA operates a fleet of 40 airplanes, including Piper, Cessna, Cirrus, REMOS, and Bellanca airplanes as well as five advanced aviation training devices (ATD’s). FITA is also an FBO, with transient services including fuel, maintenance, and a pilot lounge. FITA uses two fuel trucks, one for Jet A and one for Avgas. The maintenance hangar is new, and employs 10 technicians. The current FITA facility is the Emil Buehler Center for Aviation Training and Research at Melbourne Airport (KMLB).
